About the District of Wigtown Chamber
The District of Wigtown Chamber of Commerce is the largest local business organisation in Mid-Galloway.
The Chamber was founded on May 23rd, 2006 to represent the Business Community of Scotland’s National Book Town and the surrounding Machars area. It was also tasked with taking over the functions of the Book Town Company at the end of its 10-year mandate with the exception of organising Wigtown’s annual and hugely successful Book Festival event - a function carried out by the Book Festival Company which came into being in 2007.
The District of Wigtown Chamber of Commerce is committed to encouraging economic growth throughout the Machars area of Mid Galloway by supporting, through partnership working with other organisations, practical initiatives which can deliver increased visitor footfall and visitor spend.
The vision for the District of Wigtown Chamber of Commerce remains the continued development of a vibrant business community in what is an attractive place to live, visit and work.
Our mission is to represent the interests of our members in negotiations with public sector agencies, encourage local business networking and trading and attract inward investment in business skills and infrastructure.
